I started doing a Daily Card draw yesterday. I was not able to post a blog on yesterday's card (Knight of Swords - Reversed) because of a freak power outage that left me in the dark with no internet access.
Today's card was the King of Cups (Rx). In Ciro's deck a King sits comfortably on his throne of Sliver and Gold. Although this would suggest he has mastered both the unconscious and conscious worlds we see the throne is way bigger than our King. Or maybe, he is way smaller. Perhaps he acutely feels the weight of the world on his shoulders? He holds a Golden Scepter in his right hand while he gazes contentedly into the gilded cup in his left. His throne sits upon the waters below and no part of him touches it. Both images show he has recognized his creative impulses but does not let them interfere with his social responsibilities.
The LWB states this king is relaxed, easy going and artistic. He has his focus on family matters and may be found employed in the health professions or social sciences. Anywhere empathy is valued. Rachel Pollack in 78 Degrees of Wisdom states this King "has directed his creative powers into socially responsible acheivements."
Reversed she warns our king may "slide towards dishonesty." She points out that "swindlers also use creativity to further their careers." The LWB says if our King falls off his throne he may be "childish" or "manipulative."
This may about the people who are currently moving in my life and a warning to not be trusting of "half-baked schemes" that sound plausible just because the person who is presenting them is wearing the clothes of a confidant.
It may also say that my emotions are going to be off kilter today. The King representing the height of his suit has complete control of the ebb and flow of feelings and moves in rhythm with the river. Topsy-turvy the card may show a struggle to master the currents of the river.
Since my anxiety has been buzzing like annoying mosquitoes for the past few days. I'll take the latter message. It hasn't manifested as a full blown panic attack, but those darn bugs bothering me has left a general feeling of unease all day.
I think a glass of wine and a good book to relax with are on the evenings agenda.
No power for you, too, eh?
ReplyDeleteYep. They snapped off a little after 8pm and snapped back on a little before 9:30p. My first thought was, "I *did* pay my bill, didn't I?" LOL
ReplyDeleteHow far are you from Confederate Point?
Enjoy that book, Gary. Ciro's work certainly is beautiful, and I agree with your decided course of action on KCrx.
ReplyDeleteHi Gary I also agree with you decided course of action regarding this King, you know when I think of him being elementally Water/Air then sometimes in this reversed position I get to think about how air can stir up water and maybe just allow those more negative aspects to surface. Cups can often be assoicated with imagination, inspiration intuition so also perhaps because this king is reversed for you, you may just be in the space where you allow your emotions to take over rather than listen to your intuition about things.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought on this 40 + degree day here down under - it's hot, hot hot! lOL
Rider Waite Kings are Fire, so the King of of Cups is Fire of Water (the Knight being Air of Water)... :P Sorry, Helen, that's my two cents anyway.
ReplyDeleteHope you managed to chill with your wine and book. What are you reading? Lemme guess... a tarot book? :-D
PS. The Gilded being a RW clone... I know your PDR is about the Gilded, Gary... brain not working since I gave up coffee 5 days ago.
ReplyDeleteLisa, you are correct. I kicked back with 78 Degrees of Wisdom (I am almost through the Majors) a glass of bordeaux and LOST on the televsion. It was a relaxing evening. :)
ReplyDeleteYes the Gilded is a clone of the RW you are correct Lisa. My Elemental association for the King Cups comes from BooK T, does Waite Lisa discuss anywhere the elemental attributions of the courts? I cannot find any reference in the PKT - Book T being the GD teachings on the Tarot and Waite having been member of the GD (Golden Dawn) - I assumed his elemental attributions were the same - maybe I have assumed incorrectly.
